Joseph W. Mattia

Joseph W. Mattia, a lifelong resident of Braintree, peacefully passed away on February 9, 2025. A beloved husband, father, brother, and uncle, he will be leaving behind a long legacy of love and service.

Joseph was preceded in death by his father Nicholas Mattia, mother Helen, and sister Myrtle Mcgrath. He is survived by his siblings and spouses, Louis and Tracy Mattia, Helen (Nicki) and Salvatore Bramante, and James and Nancy Mattia. Joseph's educational journey at Norfolk Agricultural School laid the foundation for a lifetime of practical skills and a love for the outdoors. Joseph served his country as a Navy veteran during the Vietnam era. After his military service, he applied his hands-on skills as a welder, working both independently and for General Dynamics.

Perhaps one of Joseph's most cherished roles was that of a stay-at-home dad. He took great pride in nurturing his children, Crystal Mattia of Dedham and Nicholas Mattia of Braintree. His dedication to his family was evident in every aspect of his life, and his love for his wife of 37 years, Gail M. Badmington, was the cornerstone of their family. An avid gardener, Joseph found solace and joy in being outside, tending to his plants, and enjoying the simple pleasures of nature.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a graveside service at the Massachusetts Cemetery in Bourne on February 25, 2025 at 11:15 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimers Assn., MA Chapter, 309 Waverley Oaks Rd. Waltham, MA 02452.
