Joseph M. Kelly, Sr.

Joseph M. Kelly, Sr., a lifelong resident of Weymouth, died peacefully, mid-story, on October 28, 2016 at the age of 80.

Joe served in the U.S. Army. He was a lifelong football coach, teacher and guidance counselor for Hanover and Weymouth High Schools. He was an avid golfer and renowned story teller. Most of all, Joe enjoyed spending time with others, especially his adoring family and large group of friends. Joe’s family extends deep appreciation to the wonderful nursing and rehabilitation staff at Southwood at Norwell Nursing Center and the wonderful team of nurses at dialysis for the care they provided. 

Beloved husband of Maureen C. (Boyle) Kelly. Loving father of Colleen McIver and husband Butch of Quincy, Joseph M. Kelly, Jr. and wife Johanna of Weymouth, Kristeen Lynch and her late husband Michael of Weymouth, and the late Kerrin Kelly Nelson and her husband Rick. Brother of Barbara Dwyer, Ruth Thiessen, both of Weymouth, and the late Kathleen Smart. Devoted grandfather of Danee Kelly and fiance Eric Lorentzen; Deana Flores and husband Jonathan; Joseph, Tucker, and Tyler Kelly; Rachael McIver and Kelly Lynch. Great grandfather of Aerial and Cora.

Also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Friday 3-7 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital). In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Coach Kelly may be made to the Weymouth Police Dept., 140 Winter St., Weymouth, MA 02188.
