Dormady, Joseph “Leo” of Quincy, age 84, WWII Marine Corp Veteran, passed away June 8, 2011, surrounded by his loving family. Leo was born at home in Medford and grew up in the South End of Boston. Employed by Everett J. Mahoney Construction for many years before opening his own roofing company, Dormady and Sons Roofing in the 1960’s, which he worked for 30 years. Mr. Dormady enlisted in the Marine Corp in 1941 and served in the South Pacific and China during WWII and was honorably discharged in 1945. Mr Dormady married his longtime girlfriend Barbara J. Seagreme in 1949 and they had three children; a daughter Kathryn and sons Michael and Thomas. Leo was known to many of his family and friends as a joker with a keen sense of humor who always had a joke to tell. Leo and Barbara were married for 61 years until Barbara’s death in August of 2010. Mr. Dormady leaves his three children Kathryn M. and her husband Manuel Fonseca of Newburyport, Michael L. and his wife Patricia C. Dormady of Duxbury along with Thomas J. Dormady and friend Denise Dillon of Duxbury. He was the oldest living Dormady in the United States and Ireland and his legacy will live on. He leaves 8 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews. Leo will be remembered by his two best friends Thomas Canavan of South Boston and Jack Mendes of Randolph. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Sunday 2-6 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15 AM on Monday prior to the Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church, Quincy at 10 AM. Burial in Forest Hills Cemetery, Boston. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Joseph may be made to VNA Hospice Care, 100 Trade Center, G-500, Woburn, MA 01801.
