Ostiguy, Joseph L. of Quincy, formerly of South Boston, passed away October 12, 2011. Beloved husband of the late Phylis A. (O’Brien). Devoted father of Judi Tinlin and her husband Joe of Mashpee, William J. Ostiguy, BFD, and his wife Dottie of Quincy, Ruth Michelle Meyer and her husband Billy, BFD, of Quincy and Maureen Joyce of Braintree. Brother of William Ostiguy and his wife Honora (O’Brien) of Milton and the late Doris Hendricks. Loving grandfather of Brian and Matthew Ostiguy, Robyn Jusseaume, Stacey LeMay, Deirdre Graceffa, James Tinlin, Kristofer Meyer and Tarra Brown. Proud great grandfather of Kim, Joe, Rachel, William, Matthew, Cole, Sophia, Chelsy, Kylie, Dorothy, Danny, Nick, Harry, Aidan, Ronan and Gavin. Cherished friend of Beatrice Lund of Quincy. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Mr. Ostiguy was a longtime member of the Semper Fidelis Society, Knights of Columbus, Castle Island Association, Simon of Cyrene Society and the Naval Terrace Bowling League. He belonged to and was on the first basketball team for the South Boston Boys Club. Joe was one of the founding fathers for South Boston Little League and long time umpire for the South Boston Babe Ruth League. Joe was a former Patrolman for the Boston Police Department, and retired as Area Manager for the Boston Public Schools and a United States Marine Corp Veteran of WWII. Joe exemplified what the greatest generation was all about. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Friday from 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home on Saturday at 10:30 AM prior to the Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church, N. Quincy at 11:30 AM. Burial in Gethsemane Cemetery, West Roxbury. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the William J. Ostiguy High School, 19 Temple Place, Boston, MA 02111 or the Simon of Cyrene Society, PO Box 54, S. Boston, MA 02127.
