Valentino, Joseph J. of Quincy, passed away August 20, 2011. Beloved husband of the late Irene (Welsh) Valentino. Loving father of Karen Valentino and her partner Winston Mignott of Quincy, Irene Turner and her husband George of NY, Anthony Valentino and his wife Jackie, Susan Valentino, Debra Valentino; all of Quincy, the late Charles and Joseph Jr. Father in law of Christine Valentino of Quincy. “Gramps” to Patrick, Kathleen, Lynn, Shanna, Freddy, Adam and Tanya and “Great Grampa” to Justin, Ella Rose and Thomas. Also survived by many close friends and family. Joseph was born in Watertown, grew up in Weymouth and spent the last 54 years in Quincy. A WWII Veteran, he served in the Navy from 1942 to 1946. He was a machinist for the Watertown Arsenal, where he worked for 28 years retiring in 1984. Prior to that he was employed by General Dynamics and the MWRA at Nut Island. His family gave him the most pleasure in life and he enjoyed time with his grandchildren, great grandchildren and his dogs. He was friendly towards everyone and was known to whistle and sing special songs. He was a generous and loving man who was well liked and admired by many. Joseph will be missed by all those who had the pleasure of knowing him. He was a member of the American Legion Post 380 in Hough’s Neck, the Marsh Post in Cambridge and a former member of the YANA group of Quincy. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Thursday 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15 AM on Friday prior to the Funeral Mass in Holy Trinity Parish at Most Blessed Sacrament Church, Quincy at 10 AM. Burial in Pine Hill Cemetery, Quincy. Donations in memory of Joseph may be made to Elder Service Plan of Harbor Health, 1135 Morton Street, Mattapan, MA 02126.
