Curran, Joseph J. “Cuzzie” age 66 of Brockton, formerly of South Boston, passed away peacefully at West Roxbury VA on May 12, 2014 with his loving family by his side.
Beloved son of the late George J. and Mary A. (McVicar) Curran. Father of Christopher Joseph. Brother of Leo and his wife Laura, James and his wife Lola, Mary Curran, Jeannette Curran, and Helen Welsh, all of California, Lilly Berry and her husband Warren of South Boston, Joan Dow of Charlestown, William and his wife Phyllis of Dorchester, Rita Griffin and her husband Rick of South Dennis, Paula Quigley and her husband Frank of Salem, NH, and the late George Jr., Ann, Margaret and John Curran. Loving godfather to Kerry Rinaldi, Sharon Dow, Joseph Welsh and the late Carrie Ann Curran. Brother-in-law of the late Herbert “Sonny” Welsh. Joe is also survived by many nieces and nephews, and his “second Family” the residents and staff at Brockton VA Spinal Cord Unit where he resided for the past several years, who fondly referred to him as “Uncle Joe”.
Joe served in the US Army during the Vietnam War, and received a Purple Hearts for wounds he sustained in combat. He was a former Boston Fire Fighter on Ladder 4, Dudley Street, Roxbury, MA.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Monday 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15 AM on Tuesday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Ann’s Church, Quincy at 10 AM. Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Dorchester.
In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Joseph may be made to the Brockton VA Spinal Cord Injury Recreation, Bldg. 8, 940 Belmont St., Brockton, MA 02301.
