Joseph J. Chmiel

Chmiel, Joseph J. of Quincy, passed away March 6, 2012. Beloved husband of Alicia (Kulma) Chmiel of Quincy. Loving father of Evelyn MacDonald and her husband Charles of Quincy, Basia Fratus and her husband Mark of E. Bridgewater, and Lucy McNeil and her husband Peter of S. Weymouth. Grampy to Joseph, Christopher, Brian, Matthew, Courtney, Erin, Katie and Emily. Joseph was a proud family man who enjoyed spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. He came to America by way of Poland after joining the U.S. Army in Germany, during the Korean conflict in 1955. He was an avid Boston sports fan with a special affinity for the Red Sox. He worked as a pipe fitter for the General Dynamics Shipyard in Quincy for many years. Joseph will be remembered as a strong, loving, and caring husband, father and grandfather. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Friday 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A funeral service will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:30 AM in Keohane Funeral Home, Quincy. Cremation will follow.
