Mr. Joseph H. Gavin of Weymouth, Massachusetts entered the loving arms of his Savior on April 21, 2021.
Born in Boston Massachusetts on June 7, 1943 to William P Gavin and Ann Gavin.
Joseph was the devoted husband of Diane C. Gavin for the past 55 years.
He was predeceased by his two oldest sons Matthew S. Gavin, and Richard D. Gavin.
He is survived by his adoring children who include Paul J. Gavin, Jessica A. Stentiford (Christopher), Jennifer D. Tenore (L. James), Joseph H. Gavin II, William R. Gavin, Dustin P. Gavin, Liam A. Gavin, Meya L. Gavin, Michael JL. Gavin, and Heather Thibodeau (Paul). Joseph was the brother of the late William P. Gavin II, the late Ann Gavin DePlacido, and the late Sheila M. Gavin and he is survived by his sister- in-law Marjorie Gavin. Joseph adored his twelve grandchildren and many nieces and nephews who will treasure their fond memories of their time with their Papa and Uncle Joe.
Joseph was a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church, a member of the Knights of Columbus, a graduate of Boston College High School, Bentley College (University) and Suffolk University. Joseph Gavin was a proud Irishman who loved to spend days with his wife and large family.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Sunday, May 2nd, from 2-5 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital). Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 9:45 AM on Monday May 3rd, prior to the Funeral Mass in Immaculate Conception Church, Weymouth at 10:30 AM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 309 Waverley Oaks Road, Waltham, MA 02452.
Normally, the funeral is an opportunity for the community to gather in support of one another. Although we cannot gather together with Joseph’s family at this time, friends may still offer their support by sharing a special memory or message by clicking the link above.
