Joseph Mario Grieco, Sr., of Hull, died peacefully on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, after a brief illness surrounded by his family. He was 94.
Joseph was born in Boston on September 8, 1930, and was the son of the late Peter and Nancy (Gulinello) Grieco.
Joseph graduated from Boston Latin School and went on to serve his country with pride in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. He enlisted on March 19, 1952, and was honorably discharged on March 18, 1954. Following his military service, he worked at the Charlestown Navy yard for several years before joining the family business, Grieco Construction in Hull. He worked with his brother Mario, where they spent many years building a successful business and contributing to their community.
Joseph was a man of many passions. He found joy in simple pleasures, including doing jigsaw puzzles, visiting Foxwoods Casino, and spending time fishing. A lifelong Boston sports fan, he could often be found cheering on his beloved teams.
Joseph will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His warmth, generosity, and devotion to his family will leave a lasting legacy in the hearts of those who loved him.
Joseph was the beloved husband of the late Ann Delores (Recchia) Grieco, who died in 1995. The two married in 1955, and together they shared 40 loving years. He was the devoted father of Joseph M. Grieco Jr. and his partner, Perry Oag of Hull, Nancy A. Stokes and her husband Mark of Hull, Gina M. Puleio and her husband John of Weymouth, and, the late Peter J. Grieco, who died in 1998, and his surviving spouse Linda Arena of Whitman. Joseph was the loving grandfather of ten and the loving great grandfather of eight. He was the dear brother of Mario P. Grieco and his wife Diane of Hull, and the late Mary Lou Curtis and her surviving spouse Robert of Hull. Joseph is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. Joseph was preceded in death by his beloved partner, Dorothy Scordino, with whom he shared ten loving years.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Thursday, February 13, 2025, from 4-8 PM in the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St. (off Central St.), HINGHAM.
