Joseph G. Ryan

Joseph G. Ryan of Weymouth passed away at home March 22, 2013 surrounded by his loving family.

He moved to the United States from Ireland when he was 16 only to soon return and marry his loving wife of 49 years. Joe gave much advice, heard many stories, and made many friends while bartending over the years while also being a skilled paper hanger/painter. He then went on to work at the Boston Globe until retirement. Joseph loved bowling, fishing and nature walks especially with his grandchildren. 

He was the beloved husband of his late wife Mary, loving father of Joseph Ryan and wife Carol of Cohasset, Richard Ryan and wife Franci of Weymouth, Sheila Lucy and Husband Tim of Braintree, and Kellie Ryan of Weymouth. Caring Brother of Richard, Martin, Mary, Robert, Veronica, the late Leo, and the late Frank all from Ireland. Devoted grandfather to Emily, Grace, Audrey, Richard, Nicholas, Mason, Abaigeal, Timothy, and Ciara.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Tuesday 4-8 PM in the McDonald Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hosp.)  Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 8:30 Wednesday prior to the Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church, Weymouth at 9:30 AM. Burial services will be private. Donations in memory of Joseph may be made to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284 or the Hospice of the South Shore.
