Donohue, Joseph F. 89, of Hingham, formerly of Centerville, MA and Branford, CT, died on March 22, 2012 after a brief illness, with his family at his side. Son of the late Joseph M. Donohue and Bridget (Galvin) Donohue of Jamaica Plain. Joseph was the beloved husband of Geraldine F. (Casey) Donohue to whom he was married for 53 years. Devoted father of Mary Donohue Wood and her husband Randy of Marlborough, Joseph F. Donohue, Jr. and his wife Eileen of Springfield, VA, Katie Donohue of Mashpee and Charles C. Donohue and his wife Rain of Reno, NV. Brother of Theresa Brown of Norwood and the late Mary, Thomas, Elizabeth Crossley, Agnes Davis, John, and Margaret. Seven grandchildren were proud to call him Grandpa. Joseph was a graduate of Boston English High School and the Carroll School of Management of Boston College, 1948. His education was interrupted by WWII when he served as a Master Sergeant in the United States Army including the invasion of Okinawa on D-Day. Joe had a lengthy career as a marketing representative for Silver Burdett Publishers/CBS, however, the work he spoke of most frequently was his first job as a newspaper boy “extraordinaire” in Jamaica Plain. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Boston College Club of Cape Cod. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Monday 4-8 PM in the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St. (off Central St.), HINGHAM. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9 AM on Tuesday prior to the Funeral Mass at St. Albert the Great Church, Weymouth at 10 AM. Private burial in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Joseph may be made to the Poor Clare Monastery, 920 Centre St. Jamaica Plain, MA 02130.
