Joseph E. Hayes

Mr. Joseph E. Hayes, of Weymouth, formerly of Hyde Park and Belmont passed away on August 16, 2018.  He was 71.

Born in Cambridge, a son of the late Charles and Ann (Connolly) Hayes, he had lived in Belmont and Hyde Park for many years before moving to Weymouth. Joe was a proud Vietnam Veteran serving with the United States Army. A graduate of Belmont High School, Class of 1966, he had worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a truck driver for 20 years. Joe was a member of the Hyde Park Lodge of Elks, West Roxbury  V.F.W, and the Thomas J. Roberts-Fogg Post American Legion in Hyde Park. Joe was a gentle and kind man who was loved by his family and friends and will be greatly missed.

Beloved husband of Deborah Travis Hayes.

Loving father of Denise E. Conary and her husband, Timothy Bache and Robert A. Conary and his former wife, Beth Techiera Conary. Grandfather of Scott J. Burkett and Isabella L. Conary. Brother of William Hayes, Stephen Hayes, Kathleen Hayes, Brian Hayes and his wife, Joanne O’Brien Hayes, John Hayes and the late Gerald Hayes. Uncle of Stephanie, Sarah, Shane, Kevin, and Susi.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Saturday from 10-12:30 in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home NORTH WEYMOUTH at 40 Sea Street (off Route 3A – Bicknell Square), followed by a prayer service at 12:30 PM.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Vietnam Veterans Shelter for Homeless Veterans, 17 Court Street, Boston, MA 02108, The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 3 International Drive, Suite 200, Rye Brook, NY 10573 or to VNA Hospice Care, 100 Trade Center, # 6500, Woburn MA, 01801.
