Joseph E. Chase

Joseph E. Chase of Hull, husband of Alice (Griffin) Chase for 49 years, passed away suddenly on April 16, 2010. He was born in Pepperell, MA and was the son of the late Annabelle (Doherty) and Francis Chase. He was a Veteran of WWII and Korea. He graduated from Bentley College and was the Town Accountant in Hull for many years. He also served on the Advisory and Retirement Boards and was the Veteran’s Agent in Hull. He later worked as Town Accountant in Hingham, where he also served on the Advisory and Retirement Boards, and as Veteran’ Agent. Joseph was an active member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society in Hull, serving as Treasurer, and on the Finance Committee of St. Mary’s Church in Hull. Mr. Chase was a Secretary to the Hull Republican Town Committee, a member of the Garden Club and an avid fan of the Red Sox. Joe will be sadly missed by his family, friends, and many people that he helped in his lifetime. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, Dr. Joseph Chase and his wife Susan (Barry) of Hingham and Terence Chase of Hull; his grandchildren, Joseph, Caroline and Meghan Chase of Hingham; his brothers, Robert of Hull, Leo of Dennis, John of MD and Raymond of Hull. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours Wednesday, April 21, 2010 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM in the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St. (off Central St.), HINGHAM. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15 AM on Thursday, April 22, 2010 prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Mary of the Assumption Parish in St. Ann’s Church, Hull at 10 AM. Burial in Hull Village Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Joseph may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society in Hull or to Father Flanagan’s Boys Town in Nebraska.
