Joseph D. Gioncardi

Mr. Joseph D. Gioncardi of Hingham, formerly of South Weymouth, passed away on March 29, 2017.

Joe was an active parishioner and Eucharistic Minister in St. Francis Xavier Parish in Weymouth. Joe also was honored to bring communion to the sick in nursing homes and the hospital as well to the homes of those who could not get out to church. He had worked as a mechanical engineer for Charles T. Main before moving on to work for Stone & Webster. In his spare time, Joe was an avid tennis player and enjoyed watching the Patriots and Red Sox. Joe will always be remembered for his quick wit, strong faith, and always enjoyed spending time with his family.

Beloved husband of Patricia (Kuphal) Gioncardi.  Loving father of Lynne G. Brown of Abington and Joseph G. Gioncardi of Weymouth. Cherished grandfather to Courtney Gioncardi, Meredith Brown and Alexander Brown and his wife, Maria Gonzalez Villanueva. Great-Grandfather to Lilyanna and Jocelynn Coveney. Son of the late Delia (Tantillo) Gioncardi and Joseph Gioncardi. Brother of the late Jenny Purpura, Frances Levoy, Tina Delano, Mary Sullivan, Bessie Santagata, Nora Bigelow, Jean Langley, Anne Arnold, and Ralph, Teddy, Jimmy and Tommy Gioncardi.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Monday 4-8 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital). Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 10:15 AM on Tuesday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Francis Xavier Church, Weymouth at 11 AM. Burial in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Weymouth.
