Joseph C. Burke

Burke, Joseph C. of Hingham died February 12, 2009. Beloved brother of the late Ardra Fitzgerald. Loving uncle of Robert J. Fitzgerald and his wife Joan of Weymouth. Also survived by many great-nieces and great-nephews. Joe, age 91 was a lifelong resident of Hingham. He worked at the Hingham Ammunition Depot and then in the maintenance department at the Hingham Post Office. In his younger years, Joe was an avid traveler. With his in-depth knowledge of the railroad system, he traveled across the country and throughout Canada. Joe also played the violin, bass violin, and the drums when he was younger and on many occasions accompanied his sister who played the piano. Joe had a remarkable ability to retain information and was a great resource for community and family history. Joe was a communicant of St. Paul’s Parish in Hingham. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the Funeral Service in the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St., Hingham, Thursday at 10:30 AM. Visiting hours Wednesday 4 – 7 PM. Burial in Saint Paul’s Cemetery, Hingham. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Joe Burke may be made to St. Paul’s Church, 147 North St., Hingham, MA 02043
