Joseph A. Rice

Joseph A. Rice of Braintree, formerly of Malden, died May 12, 2017 at the age of 91.

Joe served in the U.S. Army during WWII and was a recipient of a Purple Heart. He worked at the Patriot Ledger for 30 years.

Husband of the late Lucy M. (Kushmerek) Rice. Loving father of Robert G. Rice and wife Nancy; and Joseph A. Rice, Jr. and wife Joanne, all of Rockland. Cherished grandfather of Daniel, Patrick and Christopher Rice and Daniel and Timothy O’Sullivan. Brother of Robert C. Rice and wife Peggy of Melrose, the late William A. Rice and his wife Peggy of Peabody, the late Mary T. Rice, the late Ellen J. Rice, and the late John C. Rice, Jr. and his wife Mary E. Rice of Melrose. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Tuesday 4-8 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital). Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 9:30 AM on Wednesday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Thomas More Church, Braintree at 10:30 AM. Burial in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
