Prioli, Sr., Joseph A. of Hingham died July 15, 2008 after a period of declining health. Long time beloved companion of Saundra A. Alden of Hingham. Husband of the late Frances M. (Taddeo) Prioli. Devoted father of Jolene Prioli Rule and her husband Steve of IN, Joseph A. Prioli, Jr. and his wife Sylvia of Pocasset, Rosanne M. Prioli of Boston, and the late Marianne R. Prioli-Rubbo. Cherished grandfather of Rose M. and her husband Michael McCarthy of W. Roxbury. Loving brother of the late Ralph, Carmine “Mello”, Frank, Gaetano “Danny” and James Prioli. Joe was also lovingly survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. In his younger years, Joe and his brothers were the owner/operators of the Prioli Bros. Service Station in Dorchester. In the early 1960’s, Joe opened Lincoln Garage and Service Center in Hingham. Joe began as an automotive teacher at Boston Trade High School, Brighton, Great Neck, NY and Brockton High Schools. Joe has had a distinguished career in vocational and technical education. He has served on many committees and task forces to improve the image of vocational education at regional voc-tec schools, area vocational schools and comprehensive high schools. As a staunch member of the AVA, MVA, MAVA and MAOED, and many other organizations he has done much to promulgate viable occupational training programs throughout the Commonwealth and beyond. He has been a lecturer and presenter at National and International conferences, including a presentation to the International Center for Vocational Education in Turin, Italy. Joe was a WWII Navy Veteran, as an Aviation Machinist Mate 1st Class. Joe was a member of the American Legion and South Shore Yacht Club in Weymouth. He was a volunteer for over 14 years for the Hingham Sr. Center. Joe was a past Lt. Gov. of the Hingham/Weymouth Kiwanis Club. For over 30 years, Joe participated in the annual pancake breakfast in Hingham every Fourth of July, which he was extremely proud of. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral from the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, Saturday at 9 AM. Funeral Mass in Saint Paul’s Church, Hingham at 10:00 AM. Visiting hours Friday 3 – 7 PM. Burial in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree. Donations in memory of Joseph A. Prioli, Sr. may be made to the Joseph A.
