Joseph A. “Joe” Desario

DeSario, Joseph A. “Joe” of Braintree, passed away at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital, surrounded by his loving family, at the age of 79.

 Joe dedicated his life to caring for others as a teacher, principal and family man. After receiving his Masters Degree in Education at Boston State College, Joe became a teacher at the Sarah Greenwood School in Boston, an Assistant Principal at the John W. McCormack School, and later named Principal of the Noah Torrey and Morrison Schools  in Braintree. His love for children followed him outside of his working career; he became a baseball coach and later President of the Braintree National Little League Association, and started the “RESPECT” Program for the  Braintree Public Schools. He also taught CCD for many years.  An army veteran, Joe was a member of the Braintree Knights of Columbus, St. Vincent de Paul, D.A.V., and the Braintree Municipal Golf Club.  He was also a man who was well respected and admired and received awards such as the 1st Martin Luther King Jr. Peace Award and Teacher of the Year award at the John W. McCormack School.  Joe and his loving wife, Joanne, enjoyed many happy winters in Port Charlotte and Clearwater, Florida. He loved golfing and spending time with his children and grandchildren. 

 Devoted husband of Joanne DeSario (Garofano) of Braintree. Beloved father of Diane Hachey of Weymouth, Andrea Acampora and her husband, Anthony, of Hanover and Frank DeSario and his wife, Andrea, of Wilmington. Beloved “Papa” of Zachary, Jonathan and Kevin Hachey, Michael and Christopher Acampora and Joseph and Matthew DeSario. Son of the late Frank and Rose DeSario. Brother of Marie DeSario of Canton, Julia Gatto of Mashpee, Joanne Agostino of Braintree and Nancy DeSario of Abington. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and dear friends.

 Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Sunday 2-6 PM at the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital) Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 10:30 AM Monday, prior to the Funeral Mass, to be held at St. Thomas More Church, Braintree at 11:30 AM. Burial in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
