Joseph A. Gray, Jr.

Mr. Joseph A. Gray, Jr. of Weymouth died October 18, 2023.

A loving husband, father, and grandfather, Joe dedicated his life in service of others. After his honorable three year long tenure in the United States Marine Corps as a decorated marine, earning a Purple Heart for his bravery and tenacity exhibited during his service, he then went on to serve thirty two years as an officer in the Boston Police Department.

During his time with the department Joe spearheaded numerous programs for the Boston area youth, and was recognized countless times by others for the ways in which he gave back to his community. He dedicated his entire life to serving and protecting others. A true passion of his was coaching youth hockey, as demonstrated by his often bragged about tournament victories in Canada.

Joe was a selfless, compassionate, caring, humorous individual who was devoted to those he loved. Whether it was dressing up in a silly costume on Halloween to amuse his grandkids, or cracking a quick-witted joke, Joe lit up a room. His love for his iced coffee and Denley’s pizza will not be forgotten by those closest to him. He will be sincerely missed by those who loved and cherished him.

Beloved husband of Ruth E. (Smyth) Gray of Weymouth.

Loving father of Julie A. Dundon of East Bridgewater, Joseph A. Gray III and his wife, Bevin, of Hanover, and Jared A. Gray and his wife, Maria, of East Bridgewater. Much loved grandfather of Brynn, Rylie, and Grayson Dundon, Jocelyn, Connor, MacKenzie and Jared Gray, Jr. Brother of the late Edna Davenport, Anne Hurley, Dorothy Palingo, and Phyllis Elliot.
