Barry, Joseph A. of Quincy May 24, 2004. Beloved husband of 57 years to Gertrude A. (Collins) Barry of Quincy. Loving father of Kevin J. Barry & his wife Faith of Deerfield, NH. Loving grandfather of Jonathan, Caitlin & Maura Barry. Dear uncle of Karen & her husband Jay and their children Riley Elizabeth & Joseph Barry Nadeau of Rye, NH. Brother in law of Patricia Ryan of Sutton & Joan Keane of Quincy. Also survived by 21 nieces & nephews. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral from the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., WOLLASTON Friday at 9 AM. Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church, N. Quincy at 10 AM. Visiting hours Thursday 4-8 PM. Burial in Mt. Wollaston Cemetery, Quincy. Joe was born in Boston August 10, 1923. He graduated from Milton High School in 1941, attended Southeastern University and Suffolk Law. He also played football for Louisiana State University on a full scholarship. During WWII, he served in the Marines aboard the USS Lexington and later served in the Army Reserves for a total of 35 years. He retired as a Sergeant Major. He worked at the General Dynamics Fore River Shipyard as Foreman of the quality assurance department and retired in 1986. He then worked part time as a bus driver for the City of Quincy for 12 years. He was a member of the North Quincy Knights of Columbus, the Quincy Elks Lodge and was assistant Scout Master of the Boy Scouts, Troop #38 Sacred Heart Church. He enjoyed sports, boating, fishing and traveling. Donations in memory of Mr. Barry may be made to the St. Vincent De Paul Society, c/o Sacred Heart Church, 386 Hancock St., Quincy, MA 02171.
