Jose L. Kringdon, born and raised in Spanish Harlem, he was an amazing athlete. He played basketball and baseball in the Army. He ruled the local hoop, as well as, handball courts in the South Bronx. He won the Senior Westchester open in racquetball and terrorized his children in dominoes.
But most of all he was a sweet man with a gentle heart. He carried turkeys to the neighbors during the holidays in the South Bronx. He bought everyone ice cream when Mr. Softee made his rounds. He shaped many lives on the block.
He left the family apartment at 4am every day for over 30 years to drive a taxi in NYC, and rarely complained. In fact, he drove his eldest child to Holy Cross in his cab, proud that he had a son off to college. He was the embodiment of work ethic and drive, living the American Dream.
He leaves behind his sons, Joseph (his wife, Jane) and Jay (his wife, Doreen) and his daughters, Diana (her husband, Walter) and Sandy (her husband, Phil); as well as, his grandchildren, Molly, Jake and Peter Kringdon; Zach and Emma Kringdon; Michael, Tara and Stephanie Cotumaccio; Cassey and Ally Rodriguez. He was predeceased by the love of his life, his wife Sylvia.
His later years were spent at Brookdale Quincy Bay.
The greatest gift he leaves behind is his unconditional love, his generosity of heart, his innate charity, and his ability to see the worth in each and every person he encountered throughout his life. Que Dios the bendiga papi!
