John W. “Stormy” Mathisen Jr.

John William Mathisen Jr., “Stormy” age 85 years of North Weymouth, passed away January 9 peacefully, surrounded by his family.

Son of the late John W. Mathisen Sr. and Mary Mathisen (Powers). Devoted husband to Carol Mathisen (Carven) for 60 years. Beloved father to Maura Perez and her husband Gus, Jackie Mathisen and Linda Varney, Michael Mathisen and his wife Suzanne and Susan Mathisen. Cherished and proud grandfather to nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

John graduated from Weymouth High School, class of 1958, and Northeastern University. He proudly served in the US Navy. He had an over 30-year professional career working at Blue Cross and Blue Shield before retiring.

John loved the outdoors as an avid boater, hunter, fisherman, golfer, and gardener. He was a long-time member of the Holbrook Sportsman Club and President’s Golf Club.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Monday 5-7 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home NORTH WEYMOUTH at 40 Sea Street (off Route 3A – Bicknell Square). Funeral service will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10:30 AM in St. Jerome Church, Weymouth. Burial in Old North Cemetery, Weymouth. Donations in John’s name may be made to St. Jerome Church, 632 Bridge Street, Weymouth, MA 02191.
