John A. “Sean” Hession

John A. “Sean” Hession a resident of Weymouth, entered into eternal life peacefully at home surrounded by his beloved family on Tuesday, September 12, 2017, the Feast of the Holy Name of Mary.

John “Sean” was a native of Athenry, Co. Galway, Ireland and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He lived in Saint Ann’s Parish in Quincy for over 30 years and prior to his death, he was a member of St. Jerome’s Parish in Weymouth. John was a gifted educator, retiring as an English teacher after 32 years of service for the Town of Winthrop School System. He had a heart for the Spiritual and Corporal Works of Mercy of the Catholic Church and throughout his life he was involved in many charitable and pro-life organizations. John made frequent pilgrimages to Medjugorie and loved to share with others what he received there. He loved his Irish heritage and was involved in the local Irish community.

He was preceded in death by his loving, faith-filled wife Margaret “Marian” Hession. He was the devoted father of Elaine Corrigan and her husband Sean of St. Augustine, FL; and Paul Hession and his wife Kristi of Abington. Cherished grandfather of Mary-Elizabeth, Caitlin, John Paul and Patrick Corrigan of St. Augustine, FL; and Liam Hession of Abington. Dearest brother of Della Stockwell of Hertfordshire, England, Rose McMullin of Dorchester, Michael Hession of Athenry, Co. Galway, Frank Hession of Shantraud, Killaloe, Co. Clare, Detta Malloy of Castlebar, Co. Mayo, and the late Noreen Hession and Paul Hession. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and good friends.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Sunday 2-6 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home NORTH WEYMOUTH at 40 Sea Street (off Route 3A – Bicknell Square). Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 9:45 AM on Monday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Jerome Church, Weymouth at 10:30 AM. Burial in St. Mary Cemetery, Randolph. In lieu of flowers, donations in John’s memory may be made to Comunità Cenacolo America, 1050 Tallyrand Ave., Jacksonville, FL 32206 or to Friends of the Unborn, P.O. Box 69224, Quincy, MA 02269-2246.
