John “Peter” Russo, Sr.

John “Peter” Russo, Sr. of Weymouth, died November 3, 2016 at the age of 90.

Peter proudly served in the U.S. Army, ending his service time in WWII as a disabled veteran. He went on to a long and fulfilling career of over 50 years as a barber in Jackson Square where he was blessed with many friendships. In his early years, Peter served as an altar singer at Immaculate Conception Church. He had a beautiful singing voice that his family is grateful to have recordings of. Peter started dating the love of his life, Theodora, at the young age of 13 and recently celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary. He will be remembered for his shy and quiet nature, beautiful gardens and fierce devotion to his family. 

Beloved husband of Theodora “Theo” Russo of Weymouth. Devoted father of John P. Russo, Jr. and his companion Patricia Smith of Weymouth, Rocco Russo and his wife Claudia of Weymouth and Gina Russo and her partner Annmarie Mahoney of West Springfield. Cherished Grandpa of 5 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. Loving brother of Nelly Adams of Whitman, Lucy Berini of Quincy and predeceased by 9 siblings. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.  

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Monday 9-11 AM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home NORTH WEYMOUTH at 40 Sea Street (off Route 3A – Bicknell Square).

Funeral service will follow in the funeral home Monday at 11 AM. Burial in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Weymouth.

In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Peter may be made to N.E. Center and Home for Veterans, 17 Court Street, Boston, MA 02108.
