Toland, John Patrick of Quincy, formerly of Dorchester, MA, on December 4, 2006. Son of the late John and Susan Toland of Dorchester, beloved husband of the late Noreen F. (Kelly) and loving father of Sean P. Toland of Quincy and daughter-in-law Suzanne M. Newton. Brother of Francis and his wife Judith of Quincy, Mary and her husband Robert Harkins of Norwood, James and his wife Joanne of Whitman, Sr. Barbara Toland SC of Rego Park, NY, Bernard and his wife Catherine of Quincy and Susanne and her husband Lawrence Murphy of Abington. Devoted grandfather of Lindsey, Gavin and Sean Toland. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews to whom he was lovingly known as “Uncle Duke”. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral from the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St. Quincy, Saturday at 9 A.M. Funeral Mass in St. Ann’s Church, Quincy, 10 A.M. Visiting hours Friday 3-8 P.M. Burial to follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery, Dorchester. John was a 1952 Boston College High School graduate and a retired long-term employee of the Boston Edison Co. He was also a life-long supporter of Harvard Athletics and spent his retirement years serving as a volunteer administrative assistant with the Harvard University Hockey squad, who affectionately called him “Tolzie”. As a result of his dedicated service, John was chosen to be an honorary member of the Harvard Varsity Club. John was also a member of both the McKeon Post and Castle Island Association. John served in the United States Naval reserve for eight years.
