John P. Martin, Jr.

Martin, John P., Jr. of Quincy, born and raised in Neponset, died at his home on June 6, 2014 surrounded by his family.

The beloved husband of 54 years to Florence (Yablonsky) Martin of Quincy. Devoted father of Janice A. Duffy and her husband Edward and Gerard “Jerry” Martin and his wife Susan all of Milton. Loving brother of Elizabeth “Betty” Mafera and the late Rita Wilder. Cherished grandfather of Matthew, Michael, Conor and Megan Duffy and Jessica and Lauren Martin and the late Catelyn Duffy. John was the co-owner of the American Fence Company in Quincy for more than 50 years. He served in the United States Navy Reserves for 30 years.  A member of the Quincy Social Club, he also enjoyed playing cards and horse-racing. The most important aspect of his life was his family, he truly enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s sporting events and activities. His family was the cornerstone of all that truly important to him. He will be remembered as a man with a great sense of humor who was patient and generous. He lived life to the fullest and he will be deeply missed. 

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Wednesday  from 9 – 10:30am in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church, Quincy  Wednesday at  11am. Burial in Milton Cemetery, Milton.  Donations in memory of John may be made to
