John P. Linskey, of Hingham, died peacefully on Thursday, January 28, 2021 at the South Shore Hospital in Weymouth. He was 83.
Born in Boston on August 29, 1937, he was raised in Mattapan and was a son of the late John Francis and Catharine Linskey. John attended local schools and graduated from Hyde Park High School. After high school, he continued his education at Boston College where he earned his bachelor’s degree. John worked as a supervisor for New England Telephone and had an early retirement in 1987 to follow his dreams of having his own business. In 1987 he started Around the Clock alarm systems inc.
In his spare time, John enjoyed boating, spending time in nature in Vermont, keeping up with the news and watching football. He loved spending time with his granddaughter and was very proud of his family.
John was a member of the Hingham Rotary and was an active member with Habitat for Humanity. He enjoyed being with people, telling a good story and always helping others. John will be missed by all the lives he touched.
John was the beloved husband of Maureen A. (Brosnan) Linskey, with whom he shared many loving years of marriage. He was the devoted father of Sean P. Linskey of Vermont, Stephen M. Linskey and his spouse Donna of Hingham and Adam J. Linskey of Hingham. John was the loving and proud grandfather of Aspen S. Linskey of Vermont and was the dear brother of the late Robert Linskey and his surviving spouse Kay of Readville, the late Marie Linskey and the late Bill Linskey and his surviving spouse Peggie of Randolph. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Following cremation, a celebration of John’s life will be held in their backyard when temperatures become warmer.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in John’s name may be sent to Habitat for Humanity .
