McGuire, John P. “Jack” of Quincy, passed away October 12, 2011. Beloved husband of the late Christine A. (Willis) McGuire. Loving father of Dennis P. McGuire of San Francisco, CA, Colleen M. Duran and her husband Paul Duran of Woburn, Dr. Kathleen M. Kaplan and her husband Dr. John Kaplan of Arlington, VA , Dr. John A. McGuire and his friend Dr. Emanuel Amato of Phoenix, AZ. Brother of Mary Nolan of Wayland and Francis McGuire of W.Palm Beach, FL, and the late Patricia Callahan and Margaret Patrick. Cherished grandfather of Dennis, Christine, Derek, Sheri, Joseph and Daniel McGuire, Kelly, Brett and Jennifer Duran and Candice Kaplan. Great-grandfather of 7 great-grandchildren. Born in Boston, raised and educated in Watertown, Jack graduated from Watertown High School and Bentley College. Jack served his country proudly both as a WWII Combat Marine Veteran as a dive bomber in the South Pacific, and as a civil servant; Jack retired in 1986 after 42 years with the Department of Defense, his last position as Disbursing Officer at the South Weymouth Naval Air Station. Jack was also the Night Manager and Auditor of the Cambridge Sonesta Hotel for 30 years. Jack loved his home, baseball, politics, family-time, and instilled a passion for education in his children and grandchildren. Being a devoted Catholic, Jack was always generous and charitable and will be missed by all. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Sunday, October 16th, from 2-6 pm in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., Quincy. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Keohane Funeral Home on Monday, October 17th, at 9:15 AM prior to the Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church, Quincy at 10 AM. Burial in MA National Cemetery, Bourne.
