Hogan, John P., age 83, of Mashpee, formerly of Wollaston, a retired Field Investigator and Manager for the Div. of Employment Security, died peacefully April 7, 2008 after a long illness. Beloved husband of 56 years to Margaret “Peggy” (McCormack) Hogan of Mashpee. Loving father of Maureen Mahoney and her husband Richard of Weymouth, John P. Hogan, Jr. and his wife Susan of Pembroke, Carol McKew and her husband Matthew of Ashby, Diane McAllister and her husband Joseph of Hingham, James Hogan of Quincy, Patricia & husband John Piatelli of Wrentham, Michael Hogan and his wife Joanne of NY and the late Baby Brian Hogan. Brother of Mary Silva of Malden, Eleanor Zoffreo of Brighton, Francis Hogan of Quincy, Dorothy Rich of Melrose, Elizabeth Lewis of Melrose and the late Margaret McCarthy, Catherine Boucher, Thomas Hogan and Edward Hogan. Grampy to Brian, Lauren, Kristen, Michael, Ryan, Melissa, Michael, Michaela, Conor, Mark, Amy, Julie, Brendan, Julianne, John, Brian, Quinn and Myles. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. John was born and raised in Dorchester. He graduated from Dorchester High School and Northeastern University. He was a Navy veteran of WWII, serving in the South Pacific. He was an accomplished ballroom dancer who enjoyed spending time with his family, gardening, and watching the Red Sox. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral from the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY, Friday at 10 AM. Funeral Mass in St. Ann’s Church, Quincy at 11 AM. Visiting hours Thursday 4-8 PM. Burial in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree. Donations in John’s memory may be made to the Jimmy Fund, Dana Farber Cancer Institute, 10 Brookline Place West, 6th Fl., Brookline, MA 02445.
