Fitzgerald, John P. of Quincy, passed away September 12, 2011. Beloved husband of seventy years to Dorothy T. ‘”Dolly” (Maglio) Fitzgerald. Loving father to Catherine D. Palmer and her husband, Edward, of Weymouth and John R. Fitzgerald and his wife, Kathleen of Rockport. Cherished Papa to Edward Palmer, Dolly Hardy, Jane Nistad, Jill Fitzgerald, Jonathan Fitzgerald, and Jennifer LaFountain. Papa John to Thomas, Joseph, John, Patrick, Lila Catherine, Charles, Matthew and Isabelle. Brother of Mary Lecesse and William Fitzgerald both of Florida, Dorothy Christiani of Dedham, and the late Elizabeth Terranova, James Fitzgerald, and Helen Cole Also survived by many nieces and nephews. John was born in Boston, and had lived in Roxbury for many years before moving to Squantum in 1955. John was an electrician for twenty eight years at the Charlestown Navy Yard before working for Amtrack for fifteen years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and in his spare time he enjoyed fishing and gardening A devout catholic, John took much pleasure spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and always enjoyed telling stories. He will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He was also a World War II veteran serving with the United States Army. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Thursday 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15 AM on Friday prior to the Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church, Quincy at 10 AM. Burial in MA National Cemetery, Bourne. Memorial donations in memory of John may be made to Old Colony Hospice, One Credit Union Way, Randolph, MA 02368.
