John Mcguiggan

John McGuiggan of North Attleboro, formerly of Quincy, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 15^th 2022. 

Son of the late Paul McGuiggan and Anna McGuiggan (Shields). Loving husband to Christine McGuiggan (Steele) of North Attleboro and father to Maria McGuiggan of Jamaica Plain and John McGuiggan and his wife Wendy (Albert) of Montpelier, VT. Cherished brother of Paul McGuiggan and his wife Paula of Marshfield, Daniel McGuiggan and his wife Denise of Marshfield, Jane Churchill and her husband Steve of Scituate, Matthew McGuiggan and his wife Liz from Braintree, and Anne McGuiggan from Quincy. Proudest of Papas to Josephine Anna McGuiggan and Finnegan James McGuiggan. John is also survived by several loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends.

John graduated from North Quincy high school and was a proud 40-year member of Pipefitters Union Local 537, retiring in July of 2019. John will be remembered as a loving, kind, honest and loyal friend. Often quiet and reserved, one of John’s favorite sayings, which he got from his mother Anna, was: “God gave us 2 ears and 1 mouth for a reason – listen more and talk less”. John lived those words for sure. In retirement, despite battling cancer, John found blessings in every day and everyone he met. He faced his illness with strength, dignity, and humor. He always had the capacity to comfort others and recognize the great run he had at life. He will be sorely missed by many.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Sunday 2-6 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9 AM on Monday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Ann’s Church, Quincy at 10 AM. Burial in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in John’s name to Tommy’s Place Foundation, Inc., 90 Shore Ave., Quincy, MA 02169.
