John J. Maltese

Maltese, John J. of Braintree passed away on July 10, 2024. He was born in Boston to the late John and Wilhelmina "Pat" Maltese. John was raised in Roxbury and Dorchester, later moving to Weymouth, and eventually back to Braintree. He worked for many years as a self-employed computer programmer and earned his credentials in Computer Science from Boston Technical School. John also received a CCP degree from Boston University. John worked for many companies, including State Street Bank, Fidelity, Fleet, and Blue Cross Blue Shield.

John was an avid Boston sports fan and enjoyed grilling and tailgating before games. He loved watching professional wrestling and never missed a Wrestlemania. John was also the city wrestling champion in high school. John was the life of the party and always had a joke or five on hand to keep everyone cracking up. He was an amazing cook who loved to feed his friends and family. He was generous by nature and a true friend to all. John especially loved animals and nature. He also loved playing card and board games. He was an avid collector and car enthusiast. 

John leaves behind his devoted partner, Erik Hansen; his loving brother Michael Maltese and his wife, Kathy, of Hanson, and sister Linda Maltese and her partner Mike Lewis of Port Saint Lucie, Florida. Devoted uncle to Nicole Maltese-Rush and her wife, Alison, and nephew Mark and partner Rylee Collins. Also survived by many cousins and extended family.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Thursday 4-7 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital). A funeral service will be celebrated on Friday at 11 AM in McDonald Keohane Funeral Home. Cremation will follow. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the ASPCA.
