John M Matranga

Matranga, John M. “China” of Weymouth, formerly of Newburyport & Quincy, June 22, 2008. Beloved husband of Ellen (O’Neill) Matranga. Loving father of Daniel Matranga & wife Gina of Danville, NH, Christian Matranga & wife Erin of Branford, CT, and Tina & husband Tim Cortis of Medway. Brother of Michelle Fyrer of Ipswich and the late Bernard “Buddy” Matranga. Devoted grandfather of Jacqueline, Christian, Matthew, Michael, Isabella, Ava, and another expected in July. John worked as a pipefitter at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard for many years. Later he worked as a welder/blacksmith for the MBTA. A decorated Marine, he proudly served from 1964 to 1968, including a 13 month tour in Vietnam. He was an avid fisherman and cherished his time with his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral from the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY, Wednesday at 9 AM. Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church, N. Quincy at 10 AM. Visiting hours Tuesday 4-8 PM. Burial to be determined.
