Lyons, John M. of Quincy, after a brief illness, April 26, 2004. Beloved husband of Mabel (Jellow) Lyons. Loving father of Richard Lyons & his wife Joanne of Waterbury, CT. Loving “Grampa” of Stephen, Lynn, Lisa & Richard. Also survived by 6 great grandchildren. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the Funeral Service in the Keohane Funeral Home 785 Hancock St., WOLLASTON Friday at 12:30 PM prior to service. Visiting hours 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM. Burial in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree. Mr. Lyons worked as a school music teacher and supervisor for the Weymouth School System for 35 years, retiring in 1969. Later, he was owner and director of the Quincy Conservatory of Music. He was also one of the founders of the Quincy Christmas Parade. As a host of Quincy Cable’s “Rhymes of the Times”, Mr. Lyons won a national award for creative use of cable television and programming from the National Federation of Local Cable Programmers. He was also recognized as the 1994 Producer of the Year by the Quincy Community Television Council. He enjoyed singing and playing the piano.
