Crowley, John M. (Retired BPD) of South Weymouth, formerly of Boston, age 86, passed away September 27, 2015.
John was the beloved husband of 65 years to the late Marion (Ford) Crowley and devoted father of two daughters, Gail M. Cerva of Sandown, NH and Jo-Ann Manijak of Medway, and her husband, Peter. He was a proud grandfather of Laura Abrams and Carolyn Cerva and great-grandson Calvin Abrams. John was the second oldest of nine children born to Michael and Julia Crowley of Ireland. John is survived by his sister, Sheila Holland and his two brothers, Francis and Timothy. He is pre-deceased by his siblings, Gerald, William, Tom, Neil and Betty. John leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
John proudly served in the US Marine Corps during the WWII and was a combat veteran of the Korean Conflict. For 20 years, he was a Boston Police Officer serving in several capacities including the Bomb Squad, Motorcycle Patrol, and Boston Harbor Boat Patrol. John loved camping trips in Maine, hunting, fishing, archery, wood working, and puttering in the yard. He loved hanging out at Wessagusset Beach with his beach pals. He also enjoyed walking the trails of Wompatuck State Park. He was an avid reader and always loved a lively discussion on politics and world news. Over the years he was a member of the Salt Water Club in Hull and the Elks. John was most happy helping out his family, friends and neighbors. He will be missed dearly.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visiting hours on Friday 4-8 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital). Relatives and friends will gather in St. Francis Xavier Church, Weymouth for a funeral mass Saturday at 9:30AM. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Weymouth.
