John M. Casey, Jr.

John M. Casey,”Jack”, 89, died Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at South Shore Hospital of natural causes.

Jack was preceded in death by his wife, Joan, and leaves 5 children, his son, Tom Casey, and his wife, Beth, of Severna Park, MD; his son, Eric Casey of Cincinnati, OH; his daughter Jane Criscitiello and her husband, Andy, of Hingham; his son Dan Casey of Boca Raton, FL; his daughter, Ann Rose and her husband, Dean, of Groveland, MA; twelve grandchildren; and a great grandson.

Born and raised in Quincy, the son of John and Marguerite Casey, Jack settled his family in Hingham where he resided for more than 50 years.  Jack served on Hingham’s Board of Appeals for several years.

In his early years, Jack was an accomplished athlete at B.C. High School where he excelled at Football and Baseball.  After graduating from B.C High in 1946, he spent a post-graduate year at La Salle Military Academy, class of 1947 before attending the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, MA, graduating in 1951.  Jack continued his studies and earned his law degree at Boston College Law School in 1954.   Following law school, Jack served in the U.S. Army until 1956 and was stationed in Germany.

Jack worked for 22 years as an attorney in the real estate department of John Hancock from which he retired in 1987.

In his retirement, Jack become an avid golfer and was a member of the Cohasset Golf Club where he organized Casey’s Crusaders for friendly weekly golf matches.  Jack enjoyed spending the winter months on the beaches of Florida.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Friday, November 10 from 5-7 pm at the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald Street,   ( off Central St.) Hingham. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, November 11 at 10 AM at St. Paul’s Church, 147 North Street, Hingham.

Burial in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Hingham.
