Lynch, John of Quincy at 93. Formerly of County Cavan, Ireland died March 21, 2016 after a brief illness.
Beloved husband of 64 years to Mary “Pat” (Dacey) Lynch of Quincy. Loving father of Kathleen Gangitano and her husband Carl of Stoughton, Kevin Lynch and his wife Rene of Weymouth, Dennis Lynch and his wife Maureen of Hingham, and Robert Lynch and his wife Linda of Hingham, and cherished sister Bridie of England. Predeceased by eight siblings. Cherished “Papa” of Gregory, Andrea, and the late Christopher Gangitano; Joseph and Jennifer Gullins, Sean Lynch, and Bridget, Cassie, and Sheila Lynch. Great-Papa of Aidan Gullins and Liam Honnen. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
John adored spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He attended all their sporting events and activities. In his younger years he enjoyed taking them on walks through marsh and to the Irish Festival at Stonehill College. John was co-owner of Metropolitan Fence Corporation and instilled his strong work ethic in all his family. He sat on the board of Quincy Youth Hockey in its early stages and was instrumental in the establishment of the ice rink in Quincy. He was an avid sports fan and followed the Boston teams. John was very proud of his Irish heritage and loved to talk to everyone he met. He will be remembered for his great sense of humor and his seemingly endless pockets of candy!
John’s family wishes to extend a special thank you to all the staff at the John Scott Nursing Home for their compassionate care and support during his final days.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Monday 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:30 AM on Tuesday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Ann’s Church, Quincy at 10:30 AM. Burial in Pine Hill Cemetery, Quincy.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of John may be made to Quincy Youth Hockey Association, Attn: Bob Roche, 60 Murphy Memorial Dr., Quincy, MA 02169.
