John “Jay” Connerty

Connerty, John “Jay” of Raynham, died on September 21, 2010. He was 59. Beloved husband of 34 years to Virginia “Gini” (Welch) Connerty of Raynham. Devoted father of Christopher Connerty of Stamford, CT, Meaghan Connerty of New York City, NY and Erin Connerty of South Boston. Loving brother of the late Brian and Robert Connerty. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and close friends. Jay was born in Boston and lived in Quincy for many years before moving to Raynham. He owned the Readmore Books Store in Taunton for 30 years, retiring in 2007. He was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed watching his son play hockey. Jay also liked traveling, his favorite trip being to Ireland on several occassions. He was a lifelong sailor and was a member of the Savin Hill Yacht Club. Mr. Connerty’s main passion was always being surrounded by his family, including his dog Tully. His family describes him as a smart, funny and loving man. He will be sadly missed. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours Friday 4 – 8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock Street, QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15AM on Saturday, prior to the Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church at 10 AM. Burial in Pine Hill Cemetery, Quincy. Donations in memory of Jay may be made to American Heart Association, 20 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701 or Lung Cancer Alliance, P.O. Box 630972, Baltimore, MD 21263-0972.
