Murphy, John J. Sr. of Quincy June 27, 2002. Beloved husband of Rose (Gaudet) Murphy. Loving father of Donna Lawson of Gardner, Rose Howard of Cumberland, RI, John J. Murphy, Jr. of Hanson, Robert Murphy of Lake Havau, Sioux City, AZ, Karen Dupuis of Jacksonville, FL and Paul Murphy of Hanson. Brother of the late Al Murphy, Gertrude Albecht & Katherine Helfer. Also survived by 15 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral from the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., WOLLASTON Monday at 8 AM. Funeral Mass in Saint Agatha’s Church, Milton at 9 AM. Visiting hours Sunday 4-8 PM. Burial in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree. Mr. Murphy worked as a testman for the Phone Company for 42 years. He and his wife Rose were married for 53 years. A long time member of the Granite City Stamp Club, he also devoted much of his life to the Boy Scouts of America, including Troup 5 in Milton and Troup 51 in Quincy, earning the Silver Beaver Award. During WWII and the Korean Conflict, he served in the Airforce.Donations in memory of Mr. Murphy may be made to Boston Minuteman Council, Boy Scouts of America, 199 State St., 3rd Floor, Boston, MA 02109.
