John J. “Mort” Kelly Jr.

Kelly, John J., Jr. “Mort” of Squantum, died October 24, 2017.

Beloved husband of the late Mary “Honey” Kelly.  Loving father of Daniel J. Kelly and his wife Kristine of Colorado, John J. Kelly III of Quincy, Joan F. Hastings and her husband Mark of Squantum and the late Michael H. Kelly.   Devoted Grandpa/Papa of Rainier Kelly, Thea Blue Kelly both of Alabama and Mark E. Hastings Jr. of Squantum. Great Grandpa of Fitz and Bash of Alabama.  Cherished brother of the late Anna Rita Moran and Mortimer Kelly.

Mort was a United States Navy Veteran, who served his country during WWII.  He retired in 1990 as a Boston Police Lieutenant.  Mort enjoyed his vacation club and yearly trips to Estero Island Beach Club, Fort Myers Beach, Florida with his family.  He was a member of the McKeon post in Dorchester for many years.  Mort was an avid golfer and in his later years continued his weekly gatherings during “coffee with the guys”.  His main passion in life was his family and spending time with those he loved.  Mort will be sadly missed by all those who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Sunday 1-4 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15 AM on Monday prior to the Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church, Quincy at 10 AM. Burial in Pine Hill Cemetery, Quincy.
