John J. Matthews

Mr. John J. Matthews, of Weymouth, passed peacefully on August 4, 2020. 

Beloved husband of 39 years to Patricia A. Carey- Matthews.  Loving father of David Matthews and his wife, Susan, of Rochester, NY, Janet Oliver of Rockport, and Sean Matthews and his wife, Sara, of Medway. Brother of Robert Matthews and his wife, Eileen Shannon, of Andover. Grandfather of Taylor and his wife, Emily, Devon, and Brynn. Great Grandfather of Rowan.

John Matthews was born in Boston, a graduate of Revere High School and Northeastern University. He had careers in both architecture and engineering. John served six years in the U.S. Army Reserves- Corps of Engineers. John enjoyed fishing, model railroads, brewing beer, and gardening.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visitation on Friday from 9-10 AM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital), followed by his Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church, Weymouth at 10:30 AM. Masks are required and social distancing will be in place. Cremation will follow.
