Kennedy, John J. of Brockton, formerly of Waltham, died on December 8, 2021, after a long illness.
John’s life revolved around three main themes; family, country and interests. He loved his family and adored “his girls”. John is a U.S. Marine Corp veteran who served during Vietnam. He was known as the “Pizza Man” at the VA hospital because he always delivered pizza to the hospital staff to thank them for their heroic efforts. John donated clothing to homeless veterans and created a tribute wall at the VA Hospital with veteran photos. He was always willing to reach out and help others, especially his fellow veterans. His varied interests included military books, Tom Clancy novels, and cheering on his local Boston sports teams. He worked in the computer industry for many years as a draftsman. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, generous nature, big bear hugs and ability to connect with people from all walks of life.
Beloved husband of Helen S. (O’Neill) of Marlboro. Loving father of Maureen Kennedy of Quincy and Rebecca Kennedy of Marlboro. Cherished brother of William Kennedy of FL, Jeanne Kennedy of FL, and the late Mary Kennedy. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited greet the family during the visiting hours on Tuesday 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A funeral service will be celebrated on Wednesday at 11 AM in the Keohane Funeral Home, Quincy. Burial in MA National Cemetery, Bourne, Wednesday at 1:45 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of John may be made to Disabled American Veterans, State House, Room 546, Boston, MA 02133.
