Madden, John J., Jr. “Jack” of Quincy passed peacefully at home with his family and close friend by his side on November 10, 2007. Son of the late John J. and Mary (Beecher) Madden. Beloved husband of Jacqueline A. (Starr) Madden of Quincy. Devoted father of Donna Lee McLauren of CA, Kimberley Ann & her husband Sean Philpot of Abington, and Daniel Michael Toland of Quincy. Dear brother of the late Betty, Jean, and Anne. Loving brother-in-law of Bernardette J. Meaney and Carole H. Brown. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Jack was born in Milton and graduated from Milton High School. He proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corp as Sgt. during the Korean Conflict. Jack worked in Management for the telephone companies which eventually become AT&T for over 30 years. During that time with the phone company, he spent 1 year working in Alaska. Jack was a member of the Milton American Legion # 114, the President’s Golf Course in Quincy, a former President of Holy Name Society at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, and former Treasurer of the Merrymount Association. In 1977, Jack was voted “Mr. Merrymount” by his peers. He was an avid golfer, and was the first of his golfing group to get a “hole in one”. Jack was a fan of the NE Patriot’s watching 3 Super Bowl Championships and the Boston Red Sox watching 2 World Series Championships. Most of all, Jack loved being with his family! Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral from the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., WOLLASTON, Wednesday at 9 AM. Funeral Mass in Holy Trinity Parish in Our Lady of Good Counsel Church at 10 AM. Visiting hours Tuesday 4-8 PM. Burial in MA National Cemetery, Bourne. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Jack may be made to Hospice of the South Shore, 100 Baystate Dr., PO Box 859060, Braintree, MA 02185 or the Jimmy Fund, 1309 Beacon St., Brookline, MA 02446-9918.
