John J. “Jack” Hogan, Jr.

Hogan, John J. “Jack” Jr. age 88, of Quincy, died September 15, 2012 at home surrounded by his family. Beloved husband of 65 years to Mary R. (McCarthy) Hogan of Quincy. Loving father of Kathleen T. Beatrice and her husband Richard of Weymouth, Kevin G. Hogan of Quincy, Ann Marie Cannon and her husband Stephen of Quincy, John J. Hogan III and his wife Joan of Weymouth and the late Joseph L. Hogan, Mary E. Williamson, Eileen F. McNamara and infant son Hogan. Brother of Paul Hogan of Norwell, Richard Hogan of South Boston, Elizabeth Foley of Quincy, Edward Hogan of Florida and the late Doris Lallier. Cherished grandfather of 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. John is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Jack was born in Boston and lived in Dorchester for many years before settling in Quincy where he lived with his wife and raised his family for the past 46 years. Jack worked for 36 years at both Stop & Shop and Purity Supreme before retiring in 1988. He also worked at Dot’s Smoke Shop in Quincy where he always enjoyed friendly conversations with his customers. Jack is remembered by his family as a man of strong faith and character. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed reading his daily paper, playing cribbage and most of all spending time with his family. He will be missed by all who had the pleasure to have known him. Jack was a WWII Army Veteran. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Wenesday 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15 AM on Thursday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Ann’s Church, Quincy at 10 AM. Burial in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree. Donations in Memory of John may be made to the Capuchin Franciscans, “St. Padre Pio” 210 West 31st Street, New York, NY 10001-2878.
