Colligan, John J. “Jack” Ret. QFD of Quincy, passed away on November 20, 2012, he was 89. The devoted husband of 63 years to the late Edna B. (Bendall) Colligan. Loving father of Joanne Turner and her husband David of North Attleboro and the late Michael Colligan. Grandfather of Tina Delorey and her companion Eric Romsey of Franklin and Tara Comier and her husband Bryan of Cumberland, RI. Great Grandfather of Nicholas & Ray Comier. Brother of Catherine Wilcoxin of MD and Joan Muldoon and her husband Chris of ME and the late Anita Reilly, James, Robert, Thomas and Jeanne Colligan. Dear Uncle of Joan & Dennis Muldoon, Eileen Perry and Pam Reilly. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Jack was a lifelong Quincy resident. He proudly served in the United States Army during W.W.II. He spent 33 months in the Pacific Theater as Fire Chief in charge of crew operations. There he received a good conduct and victory medal as well as the Asiatic Pacific Theater Campaign Ribbon. After his military service, Jack had the honor of serving as a Quincy Firefighter for more than 30 years. During his career, he received 2 valorous public service honors. He was a past member of the North Quincy Knights of Columbus. After retiring from the City of Quincy Fire Department, Jack started Colligan Painting which he ran for 40 years. He will be remembered for his great sense of humor and his generous nature. He will be sadly missed by all those who knew him. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Tuesday morning from 8:30 – 10:30 AM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY, followed by a Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church, North Quincy on Tuesday at 11 AM. Burial in Pine Hill Cemetery, Quincy. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Jack may be made to Hospice of the South Shore, 30 Reservoir Park Dr., Rockland, MA 02370. or to Alzheimers Disease Assoc., 311 Arsenal St. #4, Watertown, MA 02472.
