John J. Hughes

John J. Hughes of Quincy, died September 12, 2017 surrounded by the family he cherished.

The beloved husband of 42 years to Edith (DesRoches) Hughes of Quincy. Loving father of Adam Hughes and his wife Carolyn of Needham, Kirsten Hughes and her husband Philip Doherty of Quincy and Jonathan Hughes and his wife Catherine of Arlington. Son of the late Gerald and Helen Hughes. Brother of Ann Marie James of Quincy, Gerald Hughes of VA, Mary Ellen Burke of West Roxbury, Kathleen Manna of NJ, Theresa Hughes of Milton, Stephen Hughes of Dorchester, Christine Burke of ME, Michael Hughes of Braintree, Bernadette Connolly of Quincy, Laurette Hughes of VT, Joseph Hughes of MI, Francis Hughes of RI and Peter Hughes of Spencer. Devoted “Pa” to John Philip Doherty, Malcolm Ian Hughes, Benjamin Lewis Doherty and Emily Wei-Li Hughes. John is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

John grew up in Savin Hill. He was a double Eagle—graduating from Boston College High School and Boston College. After graduation, John became an HR director, traveling around the world.  In addition to travel, John loved to golf and he enjoyed following New England sports teams. The foundation of his life was his family, he cherished them all. He will be sadly missed by all those who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Sunday 2-6 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15 AM on Monday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Ann’s Church, Quincy at 10 AM.

Burial in Pine Hill Cemetery, Quincy.
