John J. Bowe

Bowe, John J. of Hingham, May 31, 2007. Beloved husband of Mary D. (Coleman) of Hingham. Loving father of John J. “Jack” Bowe, Jr. and his wife Maryanne of Medfield, Carole M. Bowe of Quincy, Paul A. Bowe and his wife Graceanne of Canton and the late Gerard J. “Gerry” Bowe. Brother of the late Matthew F. Bowe, Jr. and Eileen Monahan. Cherished grandfather of Patrick A., Gregory W. and Amanda Bowe, all of Medfield. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral from the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald Street, Hingham, Monday at 8 AM. Funeral Mass in Saint Jerome’s Church, Weymouth at 9 AM. Visiting hours Sunday 12-4 PM. Burial in Saint Paul’s Cemetery, Hingham. John was most proud of his family and truly enjoyed being a husband, father and grandfather. He was an avid reader and loved his newspapers. He would often clip out articles and save them for the book he always wanted to write. He enjoyed reading about history, especially regarding World War II. John loved to travel and take his family on vacations. For him the best vacations were those he could drive to. He thought nothing of hopping in the car and traveling with his family to a location of historical importance. In later years he and his son Paul enjoyed their trips visiting major sports teams. They attended Major League Baseball fields in Chicago, New York, Detroit and San Francisco. They also attended Patriots games in San Diego and Pittsburgh and Boston College Footbal games in West Point, Annapolis, Stanford and Notre Dame. His family describes him as being generous to others and a quiet man with a wonderful sense of humor. John fought very hard through his illness in order to attend the wedding of his son Paul and his bride Graceanne. They were married on Saturday May 19, 2007. It was a very special day for John. He was a former member of the Hingham Knights of Columbus. John graduated from Boston English High School and Northeastern University. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy in WWII.
