John "Jack" Hughes

John Joseph (Jack) Hughes of Hingham (formerly of Cotuit,) passed away from illness on December 24, 2024 at the age of 83. Cherished husband of Kathleen (Kip) Hughes. Loving father of Christine Elio (Carmen) of Hingham, Carolyn Hughes of Boston and John Hughes, Jr. (JJ) of Conifer, CO. Brother to Maryanne Rizzo of Walpole, the late Elizabeth Lydon of Harwich, Robert of Venice, FL., Helene Monaghan of Hingham, and Paul Hughes of Charlestown.

Dear grandfather to Patrick Elio, Matthew Elio, Nina Elio, John Hughes III and Joshua Hughes. Son of Stanley and Mary, Jack grew up in Mission Hill and Dedham. He married his wife Kip and raised his 3 children in Holliston. He was a resident and an attorney of law in Holliston for nearly 30 years before retiring to Cotuit. Jack truly enjoyed many years playing tennis and golf, boating, watching Boston sports, and spending time with many wonderful friends and his beloved family. 

A private funeral mass was held for family on January 25, 2025. A Celebration of Life gathering will be on held on Sunday, July 13, 2025 from 12:30-4 at Freedom Hall, 976 Main Street, Cotuit, MA. Family and friends are warmly welcome.
