John M. Hoey, of Plymouth, a beloved figure in both his professional and personal life, died on October 20, 2024 at the age of 69. John spent over 35 years of his life as a field service manager for Phoenix Controls in Acton, earning the respect and admiration of colleagues and clients. His commitment to his work and his caring nature made a lasting impact in the industry.
Born in Cambridge and raised in Weymouth, John was known among his siblings as his mother’s favorite and the family referee. Those who knew him best remember his generosity and compassion, as he consistently thought of others in need, dedicating time to volunteer at several food pantries.
John was characterized by a vibrant personality that drew people in. He possessed a unique sense of humor, often finding joy in his own jokes and laughter. His love of hats was well-known, often sparking conversations and smiles wherever he went. Furthermore, his unique talent for selecting just the right "quirky" greeting card showcased his playful spirit and thoughtful nature.
Active and energetic, John found joy in a variety of hobbies. He was an avid golfer, cyclist, and pickleball enthusiast. The picturesque White Horse Beach in Plymouth held a special place in his heart, serving as a backdrop for countless cherished memories with family and friends.
As we remember John M. Hoey, we celebrate a life filled with laughter, love, and a profound impact on those fortunate enough to know him. His legacy will continue to resonate in the hearts of many.

Hoey of Weymouth and his partner Evan Lai; Helen Brady of Concord; the late James J. Hoey and the late Edward T. Hoey. Brother in law of Rosina Hoey and James Murphy and his wife Claire. Caring uncle of Andrew and his wife Michelle; Michael and his wife Alyssa; Jamie (Godson), Corey and his wife Natalia; Jill, Eddie, Josh and his partner Samantha; Kiersten, Erin (Goddaughter), Calie, Bobby, grand nieces: Sophia, Chloe, Alice and Gemma; and grand nephews: Gavin (Godson), Nolan, Mason, and James.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the Funeral Mass at St. Oscar Romero Parish, 700 Washington St., Canton on Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2024 at 11 AM. Burial is to be held at a later date. Donations in memory of John may be made to the Harry Chapin Food Bank, 3760 Fowler St., Fort Myers, FL 33901.
