John H. Swanson

Swanson, John H of Hingham, formerly of West Quincy, died January 11, 2013.

Beloved husband of Eleanore Swanson.  Loving father of Herbert E. Swanson and his wife, Linda, of Kingston, Linda J. DeNoble and her husband, Glenn, of Amherst, NH, Karen E. Swanson of Weymouth, Karl S. Swanson of Kingston, Andrew W. Swanson and his wife, Rachel, of Rockland, Derrick M. Swanson and his wife, Maria, of Abington, and Marc E. Swanson and his wife, Shirley, of Norton. Brother of Roger Swanson of Ft. Myers, Florida, and the late William Swanson. Also survived by 15 grandchildren,1 great grandchild, and many nieces and nephews.

Born in Quincy, John was the owner of Swanson’s Swedish Bakery for many years. In his spare time, he enjoyed following all sports teams and also took much enjoyment watching college football and basketball games.  He was also a World War II veteran serving with the United States Navy. He will be sorely missed by all those who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Tuesday 4-8 PM in the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St. (off Central St.), HINGHAM.  Funeral service will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10:30 AM in Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, Hingham. Burial will follow in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the West Roxbury VA Hospital, 1400 VFW Parkway, Boston, MA 02132
